Loose and tight management in reading English books

Have you ever read a few books? I know that answer could easily be a “Yes”. However, let me change the question into Have you ever read one foreign book? In its entirely? Harry Poter, according to statistics, is the first foreign book which majority of Chinese born after 2000. However, almost half have stopped reading due to the obscure and sophiscated words used by J.K Rowlin. And needless to mention, the Spell language can be very tricky when you can finally dive into the state of reading flow.

Through above situation, we can summarize the reason and the method of reading foreign, in this case, English books at ease. We are motivated to read books out of self-improvement and interests. For instance, some web novels are quite attractive. I can easily spend a whole afternoon or midnight enjoying the juicy plot and never feel exhausted. But things can go entirely different when I read Advanced Mathematics. I barely want to kill myself and close my eyes forever to avoid any words of that book. So all in all, interest is the best teacher.

In addition the interest, there is one more key factor of reading a foreign book, self-improvement. It is no doubt interesting to read web novels continuesly, yet have to admit, some books are useless. When we watch some short video that generates fancy visual or sound effects. It is designed to amuse and release your mind. There are some reviews like “It is too dry, give us some novels!” Novels are something takes concentration. It is strange that people watch relaxing videos while call for concentrating text. Loosing and tight management is truly what we are talking. Next, I am going to talk about how are we going to practice that.

Previously we mentioned Harry Poter which is a terrific novel, but not suitable for beginners to read. To be specific, it is actually recommended for undergraduates who have passed CET-4 with high scores.

Therefore, the first experience of me reading English books is selecting a book of moderate difficulty. Meet Aesop's Fables, Andersen's fairy tales and The little prince. They both have fun and teaching. Number two, while facing unknown words, search them squarely and memorize the exact meaning in the context that you are reading. Do not linger on them or you will quickly lose the state of flow. And in the end, never quit. Quit for one day and quit forever.

通过上述情况，我们可以总结出轻松阅读外国书籍（在这里指英语书籍）的原因和方法。我们被自我提升和兴趣驱动去阅读书籍。例如，一些网络小说相当吸引人。我可以轻松地花一个下午或深夜来享受那个精彩的情节，完全不会感到疲惫。但是，当我阅读《高等数学》时，情况就完全不同了。我几乎想要杀死自己，闭上眼睛永远不看那本书。因此，总的来说，兴趣是最好的老师。

除了兴趣，还有一个阅读外国书籍的关键因素，那就是自我提升。毫无疑问，持续阅读网络小说很有趣，但不得不承认，有些书没有用。当我们观看一些产生华丽视觉或音效的短视频时，它们的设计目的是娱乐和放松你的思维。有些评论说：“这太干了，给我们一些小说！”小说是需要专注的东西。奇怪的是，人们在观看放松的视频的同时呼吁集中注意力于文本。松散与紧凑的管理正是我们要讨论的内容。接下来，我将谈谈我们如何实践这一点。

之前提到的《哈利·波特》是一部出色的小说，但不适合初学者阅读。具体来说，它实际上推荐给通过CET-4并获得高分的大学生。因此，我第一次阅读英文书籍的经历是选择一本难度适中的书。比如《伊索寓言》、《安徒生童话》和《小王子》。它们既有趣又富有教育意义。第二，当面对不认识的单词时，直截了当地查找，并记住它们在你阅读的上下文中的确切含义。不要停留在这些单词上，否则你会迅速失去阅读的状态。最后，永远不要放弃。今天放弃就会永远放弃。
